Ryan Reynolds Deadpool Workout Tips for Getting A Washboard Hollywood Body

By Frank Sherrill

In the Marvel Comics superhero film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the character of Deadpoool was played by Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds got just as ripped as Hugh Jackman did in order to prepare for his role. The following goes over the "Wolverine Workout" that Ryan Reynolds went through so that he could impress his fans as Deadpool.

For the most part, critics and fan reception was positive for Ryan Reynolds' portrayal of Deadpool, a sardonic but deadly warrior. Ryan Reynolds was no stranger to comic book movies, as he had already shown his impressive body in Blade Trinity several years beforehand. Many people were surprised to see Ryan's amazing body and muscular body, especially given his roots as a comedic actor. Besides, he should just be goofy, right?

Through will or wit, Ryan Reynolds has certainly been expanding his roles. While it remains to be seen whether he gets into the same great conditioning for his latest project... Green Lantern. Although, based on some of the early Hollywood buzz Reynolds will not disappoint anyone with his physical conditioning. He definitely takes his craft seriously.

Ryan Reynolds put on 20 pounds of muscle in order to play the role of Hannibal in Blade Trinity. He even got to a 3% body fat rate in order to do the role. That being said, even if you can get below 8% body fat, you will start to show your six pack. Buddy Strom was the personal trainer that helped Reynolds and costar Jessica Biel get in shape.

Who Trained Ryan Reynolds?

As mentioned earlier, just as in the movie blade Trinity. Reynolds again called upon the services of Buddy Strom to get him in peak physical conditioning. Strom of course has trained many of Hollywood's A-list celebrities. He is no stranger to the pressures of getting stars and tiptop physical conditioning for their demanding roles. Here's a short list on some of the celebrities he has trained. From actresses Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Lopez, and Jessica Biel, to pop star Britney Spears, Buddy Strom's made quite a mark in celebrity training. Even Scrarlett Johansson enlisted Strom's help as she prepared to assume the role of Black Widow in Ironman 2. But right now we're talking about Ryan Reynolds and his Wolverine Workout.

Here are some of his secrets to help you build the body you've always wanted.

"Functional fitness" is the credo to which Strom adheres to, as he works on your core and stability. Every six days, Ryan Reynolds went through a workout regiment where he would train a different part of the body. Reynolds is usually a stick, which meant he had to work hard to put on that muscle.

That describes someone that has long, thin limbs and little fat, which probably made it hard for him to gain muscle mass. Ryan completed standard reps of six to eight per set, at the highest possible weight he could complete to compensate for the low number of reps. Reynolds ate, slept, and breathed lifting weights, and was required to train -and eat- up to six times each day in order to put on the necessary muscle mass.

the Ryan Reynolds diet program consisted of consuming no less than six meals per day. 40% of the calories came from protein, 20% from unsaturated fats and 40% from clean carbohydrates. Carbohydrates like Brown Rice, baked potatoes, yams, and whole-wheat pastas.

To get his body used to the right kinds of fat, Strom likely had him take flaxseed on a regular basis. No matter what you might think of the role of Deadpool, you have to agree that the "Ryan Reynolds Wolverine Workout" seemed to work!
